TUTORS Experiences during Covid-19 outbreak – ANNA BINDA
Living through the COVID-19 pandemic, never experienced before or even remotely imagined has affected all of us in some ways or the other. It has had severe health, economic and social consequences. It has made us all question our own paradigms and the lifestyle changes we need to adopt in order to live responsibly.
In order to understand the impact from a personal point of view, we have asked to our Students and Tutors to share their experiences in order to listen and support each other as we all begin life post pandemic.
What were your main activities during lockdown?
Since the research work was stalled during the lockdown period, I decided to use my time to work on publications.
How was your experience during this period of lockdown?
This lockdown forced laboratory activities to stop without any prior planning. Since this break was unexpected and we did not know its duration, we had to rethink about the priorities.
Our team of researchers exploited this period to delve deeper into the literature and we focused on data analysis and scientific writing activity.
Living through the pandemic and having attended lab/courses as part of Virgilio, would you like to share your FUTURE field of interest?
I do not think that this pandemic will particularly affect my area of work because it is not strictly connected with COVID-19 or viral infections in general.
What do you feel to suggest to next Virgilio Program's cohort of students?
Make the most of your time, catch up on things which you’ve always wanted to do. This can be the best time for scientific literature reading and academic writing.
Last year Virgilio students can start thinking and discussing their thesis topic with the relevant faculty and reading on the subject.
