Coronavirus: Preparedness, Response and Solidarity

Virgilio Leadership Team extends solidarity and support to our partners and friends in China and other areas most affected by the Coronavirus.

This is a difficult time and we all have to be prepared for and prevent the spread of this novel coronavirus.

There is a strong international action in combating this through mobilizing research and innovation. At this point, "Harnessing the power of science is critical for bringing this outbreak under control," as said by the WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Meanwhile we request everyone to follow The WHO’s standard recommendations to reduce exposure and further transmission:

  • Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water;
  • When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands;
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who has a fever and cough;
  • If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your healthcare provider; The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided.
  • Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.

Let's focus on safety and well-being of our community.
