The seminar will take place at the Aula Magna of the LITA building (Via Cervi, 93 – Segrate).

Prof. Mattia Zampieri
studied Bioengineering at the University of Padova and earned a PhD in Bioinformatics at SISSA (Trieste) in collaboration with Boston University. After a postdoc at ETH Zurich with Prof. Uwe Sauer, where he developed high‑throughput metabolomics approaches and quantitative models, he became a junior PI at ETH. He is now a group leader at the University of Basel, leading interdisciplinary research at the interface of computational biology and experimental metabolism.

His lab explores the functional and theoretical interplay between metabolic regulation and drug action, spanning antimicrobial and anticancer therapies, within a highly interdisciplinary research and training environment. The research focuses on how metabolism shapes cellular adaptation to environmental, genetic, and chemical perturbations, the evolutionary forces driving metabolic behavior in pathogenic bacteria and cancer cells, and how metabolic pathways can be targeted pharmacologically. A key goal is also the development of predictive computational models to anticipate cellular responses to drugs and the functional impact of genetic mutations.

For those who cannot attend in person, an online connection is available upon request at biometra.seminar@unimi.it.
