Lab Experience Personal reflection – Elisa Maria Ragaini
Lab Experience Personal reflection
Elisa Maria Ragaini 4th Cohort Virgilio – Humanitas University
In July and September 2021, I did my first lab experience at the research lab of advanced imaging analysis of Humanitas University. The lab PI is Professor Chiti, head of the nuclear medicine department and president of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
During my lab rotation, I was followed by Doctor Martina Sollini, my tutor, who guided me in her daily practice of medicine and research.
The focus of research was on artificial intelligence, a field that is continuously evolving and improving and that will play a huge role in the future of medicine.
During my rotation I was able to acquire knowledge on how to use softwares such as LifeX and Horos and to train such systems to recognize specific lesions at PET-CT scans of patients admitted to Humanitas Hospital. Being able to teach high tech programs how to work has really been a unique opportunity, providing me with a taste of what future medicine will be.
My overall experience in this lab has been enriching and has stimulated further my enthusiasm for research. I am looking forward for what’s in next!
