Lab experience at Tumor Microenvironment Lab Humanitas, Lorenzo Cortelazzi
Student lab experience
Lorenzo Cortelazzi, Virgilio 6° cohort student, Humanitas University
Two weeks ago, I completed a transformative 4-week internship at the Tumor Microenvironment Lab, led by Prof.ssa Diletta Di Mitri and part of Humanitas Research Lab.
Under the guidance and tutoring of Dott.ssa Marta Pandini, I delved into the fascinating world of tumor microenvironment research.
This experience was a crucial step in my journey through the Virgilio Program, an undergraduate research track dedicated to the training of physician scientists.
The group is currently studying the relationship between tumoral cells (in particular melanomas, prostate, bladder and ovarian cancer) and their surrounding microenvironment, putting an emphasis on the study of NK cells and tumor-associated macrophages.
Specifically lipidic-macrophages are studied as potential targets of new therapeutical approaches.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at the lab for their warm welcome, their dedication to groundbreaking work and their willingness to make me explore their ongoing research, always making me feel part of their team of professionals.
Excited for what the future holds in this field!
